*only 1 handler place left* So excited to have Dr Nathan Hall coming to the UK for us this year!He will give a 2 day seminar covering the science of odor, the physiology and psychology of canine olfaction and more applied topics, such as multiple exemplar training, generalization/discrimination, and handler-dog interaction effects.
Detection dogs, whether for sport or work, operate in challenging environments and many times must detect trace levels of odor.
To insure excellent performance, training needs to be optimized to support the canine. In addition, handlers need to be aware of how their behavior and interaction with the dog can influence their dog’s behavior and subsequent performance.
This seminar will provide a brief overview of the science of canine olfaction and provide a more detailed coverage of three new studies emerging from his lab evaluating training for trace odor detection, effects of canine-handler interaction on canine performance, and effects of dog impulsivity and cognitive bias on detection learning and performance.
