The Museum has teamed up with National Geographic through their Slingshot Challenge to offer this free 3-day environmental filmmaking program in Ocean Springs!
Like Walter Anderson, the National Geographic Society uses the power of science and storytelling to illuminate and protect the wonders of our world. Now, it’s your turn.
During the camp, students will learn about environmental issues that affect their communities, and collaborate with artists, storytellers, and peers to create short films that communicate creative and data-driven solutions to these challenges. Students will brainstorm solutions, storyboard their films, and use audio, film, and multimedia tools to create their final 1-minute videos. Completed films will be submitted to National Geographic as part of the global Slingshot Challenge program, entering students to win up to $10,000 in funding.
About Slingshot:

Slingshot Challenge is supported by the National Geographic Society and the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation.
The Slingshot Challenge is a global community for youth with a passion for protecting our planet. Slingshot is powered by the belief that no problem is unsolvable and that great ideas come from ALL places. That’s why we’re asking our community of 13–18-year-olds to rise to the challenge and submit a 1-minute video describing your idea for solving an environmental issue for a chance to receive up to $10,000 in funding.
