Join us for a special night of contra dancing featuring legendary fiddler James Bryan and his son-in-law, Matt Combs, a Grammy nominated musician and a legend in his own right - along with Rachel Combs and their daughter Maddie. Our caller will be Susan Kevra.The dance is open to all - no partner or experience needed.
7:30 PM - Beginner/Refresher lesson
8:00 - 10: 30 PM - Dance
Pay at the door: Sliding-scale admission: pay whatever you can afford, $5 to $25 per person. We take cash, checks, Paypal and Venmo. (This money pays the band, caller, sound technician and hall rental ($200). Any extra goes towards NCD’s on-going expenses.)
Vaccines and masks are encouraged, but not required.

Hailing from Mentone, Alabama, James Bryan has entertained in places as diverse as the Smithsonian Institute’s Bicentennial Celebration on The Mall in Washington, D.C., onstage at the Grand Ole Opry, and before a U.S. President. Bryan has recorded traditional fiddle tunes for posterity and mentored young fiddlers in their own music studios across the country.
Matt Combs has been a longstanding member of the Grand Ole Opry house band and has performed with John Hartford, Reba McEntire, Jerry Douglas, Patty Loveless, Marty Stuart, Alison Brown, and Ray Price. Matt appeared in three seasons of ABC’s hit show "Nashville."
Susan Kevra has called from coast to coast and in Europe, Denmark and Canada but loves calling at her home dance in Nashville best of all! At home in a range of dance styles: contras, singing squares, Western patter calls, English Country dances and bal folk (French dancing) she is also the choreographer of a number of well-loved contra, square and Engish Country dances.
