Join Emmy-winning Hollywood screenwriter and director Bob Dolman for an exclusive three-hour seminar in our studios in Stockholm.
Bob Dolman’s career spans decades of film and television writing and directing. He is best known for penning the screenplay to Willow, directed by Ron Howard and produced by George Lucas, as well as co-writing and co-producing Far and Away, starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. He has twice won Emmy Awards for his television scripts, and most recently wrote for the Disney+ series Willow.
Working closely with George Lucas, Bob developed Willow from Lucas’s original idea, collaborating with Ron Howard on the script at the legendary Skywalker Ranch. It was there that Bob gained firsthand insight into Lucas’s remarkable approach to storytelling—an approach that blends myth, emotion, and cinematic craft to create stories that resonate with audiences worldwide.
What to Expect
In this dynamic seminar, Bob will share:
Behind-the-scenes stories from his collaborations with George Lucas and Ron Howard
The creative lessons he learned from working with some of Hollywood’s greatest storytellers
Practical insights into shaping stories for film and television—both technically and imaginatively
How every element of filmmaking—writing, acting, directing, design, music—serves the story
Inspired by the George Lucas Museum of Narrative Art
This talk is partly inspired by the upcoming George Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, opening in Los Angeles in 2026—a place dedicated to celebrating visual art as an illustration of Story. Lucas himself has always believed that storytelling unites communities, draws people together, and brings mythologies to life.
This talk has been inspired by the growing excitement about the George Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, which opens in Los Angeles in 2026.
The museum, through its many galleries, will present, recognize and celebrate visual art as the illustration of Story. And for Lucas, it is Story that builds community, draws people together, by bringing awareness to the mythologies that we live by.
And is that not the spirit behind the impulse of every artist? Writers, directors, actors, designers, musicians—there is a Story that wants to be told through the collaboration of skills and talents and then to be shared with the world.
Because I had the amazing experience of working with George Lucas—by writing the screenplay for the movie Willow—I am able to share personal insights into how this phenomenal filmmaker channels all his energy toward storytelling. How he makes his stories accessible, so that audiences will relate to them emotionally. And how, when working with me and director Ron Howard, he slyly mentored us both. I have many “stories” I can tell you about that.
This will be at the heart of this seminar: the telling of stories, the importance of stories, and some of the ways—both technically and imaginatively—stories are invented, shaped and realized.
And because all elements of filmmaking serve the Story, this talk will be of interest to anyone who’s passionate about film. Writing, acting, directing, set design, costume-making, musical scoring—every contribution brings the story alive.
I look forward to seeing you.
