About this Event
Dealing with a narcissist can be emotionally draining and frustrating and can negatively impact your health. Teresa Purdie discusses it's symptom and patterns and how to best navigate life among narcissists.
Narcissistic personality disorder is when a person has an inflated sense of self-importance. Symptoms include an excessive need for admiration, disregard for others' feelings, an inability to handle any criticism, and a sense of entitlement. The narcissistic abuse cycle refers to an abusive pattern of behavior that characterizes the relationships of people with narcissistic traits. It involves first idealizing a person, then devaluing them, repeating the cycle, and eventually discarding them when they are of no further use. The cause is unknown but likely involves a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Let’s talk about these patterns of behavior so that you can properly deal with these types of people, whether they be friends, loved ones, co-workers, neighbors.
