About this Event
Nanyang, the “Southern Seas,” was a land of promise but also uncertainty.
Discover how men and women left everything behind in search of survival and forged new lives here. From temples and shophouses to bustling streets and markets, we bring their fragile hopes and fierce hearts to life.
Our journey begins at one of Singapore’s earliest streets, Telok Ayer, and follows the immigrant path into the heart of Chinatown. Every stop reveals a chapter of their hopes and struggles.
Join us and see how their lives unfold, and in doing so, come to appreciate the rich history that still lives in Singapore’s streets.
Please take note of the following:
- Wear comfortable shoes as we will be walking for about 2km.
- Choose attire that keeps you cool and comfortable for walking.
- Visiting temples will require your shoulders and knees be covered.
- Bring an umbrella as this is a rain or shine event.
- Have your water bottles with you to stay hydrated.
This is an in-person event and is offered free. Please feel free to tip your licensed tourist guide based on the quality of your experience.
