Duane Reed Gallery proudly welcomes the return of Nancy Newman Rice, Luanne Rimel, and Bryan Burk.Nancy Newman Rice’s paintings are rooted in the use of Euclidian geometry as the basis of pictorial organization through subtle designs and simplified spatial effects. Her “Sacred Space” oil paintings began as an attempt to define the interiors of identifiable architectural structures by inventing elaborate geometric scaffolding to map the space within the confines of each edifice.
Luanne Rimel's latest collection of collaged, hand-stitched, silk-printed photographs currently focus on quilted and soft subjects, with delicate, repetitive treatment across the surface creating shadows and textures and alludes to the marking of time. Her technique references earlier domestic practices of mending, repair, reuse and repurposing.
Bryan Burk is a ceramicist, painter, and tattoo artist operating out of Los Angeles, CA. He illustrates his vessels as he would a body: with vividly textured animal forms and their elaborately shaded furs, feathers, and scales. In addition to his ceramic work, Burk continues his artistry in his own tattoo shop in Los Angeles: Dark Horse Tattoo.
