Why can changing a name change someone’s life?
A person’s name is important to their identity, and people have a right to have their names accurately reflect their identity. Identity documents are part of everyday life, often used without a second thought, unless the name on your identification documents does not reflect who you are, then a seemingly simple and routine part of life can become unnecessarily stressful and complicated. Having an ID that accurately reflects a person’s name is important and should not be underestimated or undervalued.
