Margaret Murray’s weaving workshops offer insight into Indigenous culture, giving the opportunity to have a yarn, connect with each other and country while learning traditional weaving techniques.
Weaving for more than a decade, Margaret is passionate about sharing her knowledge with the community and encouraging people to express themselves through art.
The weaving circle is targeted towards those who identify as women and girls, ages 15 and above, bookings required.
About the artist
Margaret Murray is a proud Maraura – Barkindji from her mum’s side and her father’s connection to Wiradjuri country Wemba Wemba, Latti Latti, Narri Narri. She was born and raised at Dareton/ Coomealla and now lives and works in Albury Wodonga.
Margaret has been running workshops throughout the year for women in community to learn and share their experiences.
This workshop is part of Albury Wodonga NAIDOC Week celebrations.
NAIDOC week celebrations are held across Australia to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
