The North American Grappling Association (NAGA) comes to the Minneapolis Sports Center on July 20, 2024, for the NAGA Minnesota Grappling Championship. This is a no-gi and gi (BJJ) grappling tournament with divisions for all skill levels and all ages. Expert division winners are awarded championship belts. Non-expert children and teen division winners are awarded samurai swords. Adult non-expert winners are awarded medals. For more information on pricing, directions, divisions, rules, and more visit the NAGA website, nagafighter.com.
All divisions will take place on Saturday. Children and teens compete first followed by adults.
- All competitors can check-in/weigh-in on Friday from 6:00PM to 6:30PM. This is not mandatory, you can weigh-in on the event day.
- On event day, all children & teens who did not weigh-in on Friday must be checked-in and weighed-in by 9:30 AM. Children and teens who weighed-in on Friday, and have no one in their bracket, please arrive at this time so we can provide you your options.
- Adult competitors need to be checked-in and weighed-in 60 minutes prior to their scheduled division start time. The start times can be found Friday night on the Smoothcomp website.
- If you do not make the weight you registered for you will be placed into the weight class of what you weighed at the event. Please try to be as accurate with your weight as possible. This will help expedite the bracketing process. You can edit your weight in Smoothcomp up until the designated cutoff time.
- Once a competitor accepts their weight and it is entered, the weight cannot be changed.
Family Rates
We understand it can be expensive having multiple family members train and then compete. NAGA does offer relief to families who have multiple family members competing in the same NAGA tournament. The discount only applies to competitors, not spectators. When registering a family, you register each competitor individually, and enter the provided coupon code for one of the competitors at the payment screen. For 2 family members the discount is $25, 3 members is $50, 4 members $75, and so on.
- Family rates are only valid for the following: a parent paying for themselves and their minor child or children (under the age of 18), a parent paying for their minor children (under the age of 18).
- To obtain a family discount, register all the competitors, then call our office at 860.537.3686, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9AM and 5PM EST. You can also email us at [email protected]. We will refund the appropriate amount back to the form of payment used.

If you entered your information during the early registration timeframe and selected to pay later, then you paid during the late registration period, the late registration price is what you will be charged.
Spectators
Spectators are $15 if purchased during the early or normal registration periods (deadlines are listed above). They are available online through the Smoothcomp registration page. The price goes up to $20 during the late registration period and at the door.
Children 12 and under are $10 and can only be purchased at the door.
Cash or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover) are the only accepted forms of payment in person (spectators and merchandise).
Registration/Bracketing Using Smoothcomp
NAGA uses the Smoothcomp tournament management system for registration and bracketing. Smoothcomp is a tournament management system that allows you to register and pay for a tournament online. The system generates brackets that competitors can view and track their estimated division start time, and their mat assignments. Post event, individual and team results are posted on Smoothcomp.
If you have competed in a Smoothcomp tournament in the past, you can login to Smoothcomp with your login credentials and register for this tournament. If this is the first time you are using Smoothcomp, you will need to create an account with them before you can register for a NAGA tournament.
There is a scam where the scammer will post on an event page saying they need to sell their tickets due to (insert tragedy here) or are streaming the event. We work to delete these as they appear and have contacted Facebook support about this, but please be aware that this is happening.
See you on the mats in 2024!
