There is a great deal of expertise and interesting work being carried out across Durham in a multitude of Machine Learning related fields. It can prove difficult though, to find the group (or person) who has the skills and expertise you require or those researchers who want to use similar research methodologies but are approaching them with a different research goal in mind.
The main focus of this event is one of ‘mutual benefit’ to link up local researchers using or developing ideas in machine learning or statistics with those with existing expertise who would like to apply their knowledge to new problems.
Target Audience
You do not need to have a firm research plan or specific research question in mind. You may have a lot of data and think that using statistics/machine learning may be what you’re looking for but want to find out more. Everyone is welcome including early career researchers and PhD students.
To ensure that all attendees have the best opportunity to find what they are looking for, we have devised a short poll so you can share your reasons for attending. We would like you to fill in the google form when you register so we can share this before the meeting. Please fill it in as best as you can to make it easier for someone who matches your needs to find you (and vice versa). This is entirely optional so you are welcome to attend without filling in the form.
Agenda
We will collate responses from the poll and generate an agenda that responds to the main topics we feel would be useful to be discussed where the meeting will consist of short talks and informal discussion groups. This will be sent out the week before the meeting.
