Enjoy a 1-kilometre walk through Eucalypt woodland and along a small creek through a delightful bushcare site in Tarragindi. Hear about the massive achievement this group has made in controlling some very challenging W**d infestations and revegetating the area.Bring a hat and sunscreen, closed in shoes for walking, water bottle. Tracks in the park are rudimentary bush tracks or a bit of off track walking, so bring appropriate shoes. We'll meet in Solna Street, near the Habitat Brisbane sign. This is a cul-de-sac, so consider parking on Ferrand Street and being considerate of the local residents.
Background: Tucked away in the hills of Tarragindi near to the edge of Tooheys Forest, this small pocket of remnant bushland is a hidden gem with an interesting history! Donated by a local family to the Queensland Government, this patch of land fell under the domain of the Queensland National Parks and Wildlife Service for many years before transferring to local government jurisdiction. With a wonderful understorey of native grasses and scrambling lilies under a forest of mixed eucalypts and interesting wattles, the health of this bushland patch is a testament to the efforts of local residents, some who have been working on the site for 15 years. Its also a nice shaded environment for our last tour for the year!
