Passionate about blues, soul, jazz, Latin music, gypsy jazz and gospel, her repertoire is wide-ranging. Her love of stage performance is influenced by her bachelor degree in theater. Mélanie is also a drama teacher. Born in Quebec City, she grew up in Gatineau. Mélanie took to the stage for the first time at the age of 12. Later, at the age of 25, she joined the Top Passion musical theater troupe. As a former singer with the group Django Libre, she now ventures into the lively, rhythmic styles of gypsy jazz. Throughout her repertoire, you can hear her in trio, accompanied by pianist Yves Laroche and double bassist Tom Denison, performing standards by such timeless artists as Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Peggy Lee, Pink Martini and many others.Mélanie Cloutier is a versatile vocal artist.
