About this Event
Nationalism is a divisive set of ideas that sets workers against each other. We will look at a number of ways of defining a nation, such as on the grounds of language, culture or history, and show that none of them provides a satisfactory basis for nationhood or nationalism. We’ll also examine other points, such as George Orwell’s distinction between nationalism and patriotism, and argue that workers need to reject nationalism and combine on the basis of class.
There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.
