"Mystic music from across the Silk Route," is a unique music concert by Latif Bolat, a Turkish singer, composer and scholar of Turkish music and folklore. Latif Bolat will be joined by Deepak Castelino, an accomplished guitar and banjo player and Amjad Khan, an exciting tabla player, both from Delhi. Latif Bolat is a native of the Turkish Mediterranean town of Mersin. After receiving his degree in folklore and music at Gazi University in Ankara, Turkiye, he taught traditional music in the country. Latif Bolat has travelled around the world giving performances and conducting workshops and lectures on traditional Turkish mystic Sufi music and folklore. Deepak has performed on stage in India and abroad for over 35 years. He has composed, recorded and played guitar for film, theatre and commercial purposes. Some of these films include "Electric Moon," "In Which Annie Gives it Those Ones," and "Milk and Opium." Deepak has participated in international music residencies with the Sufi music ensemble `Chaar Yaar` and performed on stage with a range of music artists. Amjad Khan (also a member of `Chaar Yaar,’) is a mature, professional percussionist who is at ease with all types of Indian classical and semi-classical styles. He has accompanied leading popular Indian classical and fusion music artists in a variety of genres, and due to his amazing skill and talent, is a huge draw at performances. The event will be preceded by Welcome drinks and snacks and the event will be followed by interaction with the artists over a well curated Old Delhi Cuisine.
