About this Event

Dates: September 16 & 17

Time:6:30 pm

Place: Downtown Palmer

Cost: $20

Grandmother Raven Productions is pleased to present the first in a cycle of walking tours: Agrarian Rhythms: Seasonal Walking Tours; a series that will explore the rich mythology and local lore tied to the four agricultural seasons. Each tour reflects a seasonal theme and motif:

1. Germination – The Sower

2. Proliferation – The Honeybee

3. Termination – The Reaper

4. Hibernation – The Bear

This September we're presenting the first tour of the series: Termination with the Reaper. This tour delves into the powerful symbolism of the harvest season, when the earth transitions from growth to rest. Drawing inspiration from ancient agricultural myths that illustrate the cycle of life, death, and renewal—the Reaper represents both the end of the growing season and the promise of future abundance.

This tour is a unique blend of fact, fiction, and folklore, weaving together the real events that shaped history with intriguing tales and legends that have captured the imaginations of local residents for decades.

This tour is produced and presented by volunteers. All profits will be split between the Friends of the Palmer Public Library and the Palmer Historical Society.

GENERAL

Organizers recommend this tour for ages 12 and up.

The walking tour will last between 1.5 to 2 hours.

All ticket sales are final.

Advance ticket sales only. No ticket sales at the event.

NO DOGS ALLOWED.

PARKING

The tour begins and ends at the old Palmer Public Library Parking lot near the Visitor Center.

NEED TO KNOW

This is an outdoor walking tour. Participants should wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.

Tour will walk at a moderate pace with frequent stops.

No seating is available or provided during the entirety of the tour.

There will be a Restroom opportunity approximately halfway through the tour.

ACCESSIBILITY

99% of the tour is on the sidewalks of Palmer. We do take one brief shortcut on an uneven dirt/grassy walking path. If necessary, participants in wheelchairs or scooters will be able to utilize a sidewalk rather than the dirt/grassy path in a slightly longer route.

Presenters will use voice amplification devices.

CANCELLATIONS

The tour will be held if there's a slight drizzle, but not if it's pouring rain or excessively windy. Should either of these weather situations be an issue and require a cancellation, you'll receive an email hour before the event.

In the unlikely event that Grandmother Raven Productions needs to cancel this event for any reason, all attendees will be alerted via email. The tour will be rescheduled for a later date TBD.
