This class does not require any prerequisites, except that you are massage therapist or other healthcare professional. Over the 2 days, we will have an opportunity to take a deep dive into the subject.
Focus: Techniques for treating the shoulder girdle, thoracic spine, cervical spine, jaw and common upper body symptoms.
Lectures and labs deepen the understanding of how fascial tissue responds to conditions/injuries. Lectures cover client assessment and skills needed to integrate Myofascial Release techniques into practice. Labs include hands-on practice of Myofascial Release techniques including discussion of proper body mechanics for the practitioner.
Students will practice identifying fascial restrictions through both palpation techniques and visual cues.
Learning Outcomes:
Palpate and identify fascial restrictions in the pterygoids and
masseters.
Identify rib head disfunction.
Perform Myofascial Release compression and traction techniques to the shoulder girdle.
Palpate and treat fascial restrictions in the diaphragm.
Perform Myofascial Release techniques on the scalenes and other muscles on the anterior neck.
Perform compression and traction techniques for the cervical spine.
Palpate and treat restrictions of the occipital atlas region.
Prerequisite: Intro to Myofascial Release or permission from the instructor.
