This 16km hill and moorland walk starts with a long ascent from the village of Myddfai along lanes and up footpaths. On a clear day, the views up top of Bannau Brycheiniog are spectacular. The route continues along the ridge following the line of former tilestone quarries and a few bronze age cairns. If we are lucky we'll see gentle ponies grazing, red kites soaring and hear plenty of lark song.
Eventually the route descends through forestry to the edge of the Usk Reservoir. After a gentle stroll along the banks, we rejoin the moorland and visit the site of the tucked away Physicians Well before heading back to Myddfai via the hills, hopefully in time for a cuppa at the cafe.
Ascent 491m
Cost £30
