My Telok Blangah Heritage Tour [English] (20 April 2024)

Do you know about the Temenggongs' roles in the development of the ports and roads in Singapore?

My Telok Blangah heritage tour traces the 700-year history of Singapore as a prosperous port city at the southern tip of Peninsula Malaysia, from a trading emporium founded by the legendary Sang Nila Utama in 1299, to a pirate-infested free port established by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1819 and a modern metropolis in the 21st century.

The tour features an array of national monuments and historical sites including Masjid Temenggong Daeng Ibrahim, Radin Mas Ayu and Keramat Bukit Kasita

• Everyone is welcome to participate in this exciting tour!

Duration & Meeting Place

• Approximate Duration: 3.0 hours

• Language: English

• Please meet at Harbourfront MRT Station Exit D (Street Level) 15 minutes before the start of the tour.

• The tour will end at the entrance of Silat Road Sikh Temple (8 Jalan Bukit Merah Singapore 169541)

• The tour will proceed rain or shine.

• All participants must be vaccinated

What to bring and wear?

• As we will be entering several places of worship, please wear respectful attire which includes: (1) a collared, modest shirt or blouse with sleeves, covered shoulders, (2) long pants (e.g. jeans) or skirts that cover your knees, (3) covered shoes. Participants are reminded to bring scarves to cover their heads before the tour.

• Please do not wear singlets, sleeveless / spaghetti-strap or low-cut tops, shorts or miniskirts, slippers or sandals. Thank you!

• Please do not bring cigarettes, alcohol, meat or any food, or dangerous items with you or in your bag to be respectful to our different places of worship!

• Please arrive 15 minutes

• Bring along hand sanitiser, insect repellent, EZ-Link card, a bottle of water and an umbrella.

• If you have earphones with a standard 3.5mm audio jack, please bring them along (for radio guides during the tour).

• Asthmatic individuals are encouraged to bring their inhaler.

Other important information

• Please do not sign up for the tour if you are unsure of your schedule. Our volunteers have committed their time to this tour - Your absence is discouraging our volunteers from organising any physical tours.

• You must cancel this ticket if you were unwell and could not turn up.

• Participants who have signed up for the tour but did not turn up will be banned permanently from My Community's future tours.

• Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour for registration.

• It is compulsory for a parent/guardian to accompany any child of or under the age of 12
