About this Event

When the music plays, let the music course through your veins and give in to that irresistible urge to move your body! Let loose and live flamenco as a way of life with Daphne who will be demonstrating the basics of this passionate and fiery dance!

Introducing Daphne!

Hello everyone I’m Daphne – a main dancer and the manager of Flamenco Sin Fronteras! Alongside performing and teaching flamenco, I am also a doctor. You must be wondering why I juggle both demanding careers at the same time. My answer: flamenco is truly my passion.

More than a decade has passed and I still feel that adrenaline every time I dance. The intensity, the spontaneity and the ability to unapologetically express myself are just some of the many reasons I love this dance. Today, apart from dancing, I work hand-in-hand with my husband and Artistic Director, Antonio Vargas, to conceptualize productions. I am very excited to teach everyone this fiery and passionate art and I promise that it will be an unforgettable experience!

More about the Flamenco Sin Fronteras

Flamenco sin Fronteras (‘Flamenco beyond Borders’) started out as an informal group in 2009 when 5 dancers Daphne, Tilly, Hui Hui, Hsiao Min and Kunyi came together under the tutelage of Antonio Vergas. The group has since evolved into a teaching and production company with over 100 students from all walks of life. Beyond traditional flamenco shows, the company engages in cross-cultural collaborations with other performing arts groups in Singapore to explore new ways of showcasing flamenco.

The company is also engaged in community work, forging partnerships with organizations such as the Singapore Association of Mental Health and the Silver Arts Project. Overall, Flamenco sin Fronteras hopes to share flamenco as a way of life, allowing the spirit of the dance to be carried beyond our movements into our hearts and minds.
