About this Event

My Life of Crime – Martin Edwards talks about M**der in the Lake District and much, much more

Richard Osman recently described Martin Edwards, the creator of the highly popular Lake District Cold Case Mysteries, as ‘a true master of British crime writing’. Martin will talk about how he followed his youthful dream of becoming a crime writer and how that led to all kinds of unexpected pleasures, from lecturing on the Queen Mary and putting on a M**der mystery event in Dubai to writing an audio drama for Doctor Who and captaining the series champions in Christmas University Challenge!

Martin will also offer tips on the craft of crime writing and be glad to answer questions about the fictional genre that, for him, has been a lifelong passion.

Martin Edwards’ novels include the Lake District Mysteries, which was launched by The Coffin Trail, shortlisted for the Theakston’s Prize for best crime novel of the year. He is also the author of the Rachel Savernake books, most recently Sepulchre Street. His non-fiction includes a multi-award-winning history of crime fiction, The Life of Crime, the updated paperback edition of which has just been published. He has received three Daggers, including the CWA Diamond Dagger, two Edgars, and four lifetime achievement awards. He is consultant to the British Library’s Crime Classics, a former Chair of the Crime Writers’ Association, and President of the legendary Detection Club.
