The band has supported the notoriously chaos-rendering band PRIVATE FUNCTION twice and recorded their debut single with 2x ARIA award winning producer Cody McWaters (King Stingray, The Chats).
A brutal tenderness weaves through their boisterous and thought-provoking tunes, drawing from an ever-expanding pool of influences including Fontaines DC, DIIV, SPRINTS and The Prodigy.
Not all anger is destructive, and MFC’s ability to thrash around inside this liminal space provides a safe environment to experience the abundant and fractured minefield of human emotion - from torment, apathy, and grief, to presence, joy, and excitement. With their push to celebrate the importance of guttural expression through their use of gritty instrumentals and veracious lyricism, MFC are carving out a space for themselves inside Meanjin’s unique counterculture.
Their debut single Sunny Times In The Sunshine State is an uplifting commiseration – the musical equivalent of hi-fiving a mate after discussing your terrible mental health. Launching in March 2023 Worm Girl have leapt (wriggled) from strength to strength, touring the East Coast of Australia with Dusty, and supporting artists including Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, and Haters. The Worm Giriz debut single, 'Dirt, arrived on November 16 to a world of hype, already receiving airplay across the country on Australia's biggest music stations. Right off the back of electrifying the Good Better Best stage at St Jerome's Laneway Festival 2024, Worm Girl sophomore single 'Cool Girl' emerged from the soil in February 2024. Following a performance at Crankworx Cairns alongside Spiderbait and Betty Taylor, Worm Girl released their raw new single 'Not My Body' in May 2024
