"The key of F# holds special meaning for the composers who choose to take the extra time to write in numerous "#" signs all over the score. Why do they do it? Back in Baroque times, the tuning evolved around common keys like C major, and exotic keys were rare. Choosing this exotic key, which includes most of the black keys on a piano keyboard, makes a statement. It’s intimate, it’s illuminating, it’s sparkling, it’s sophisticated. It’s anything but generic!
