My Fair Lady Pinup Contest Registration

The Downtown Dolls are hosting their 2nd annual Pinup Pageant! This Pageant differs from the smaller scale Pinup Contests that we often assist with, as it is more aligned with the structure of the ever popular Viva Las Vegas Pinup Pageants.

Funds raised through Registration and Voting Rounds of this event will directly benefit the Downtown Dolls, an official 501c3, which will assist in our future endeavors creating meaningful and exciting events that benefit members of our community.

The event takes place at the Fredericksburg Agricultural Fair, August 3rd, 2024. It will be held at the "Bullock Pavilion". Start time for the Pageant is 2pm.

All spectators will be responsible for their Fair admission tickets.

During the Pageant, the Dolls will also have a short segment of "Meet The Dolls" get to know more about your favorite Doll!

2nd Place Winner: A $50 Giftcard, Downtown Dolls Swag

3rd Place Winner: A $25 Gift Card, Downtown Dolls Swag

If you are interested in becoming a Contestant for the Pageant, please read through all rules listed in the link below, and follow the second link to register!

Registration begins June 26th and ends July 31st.

Contestant Requirements/Guidelines:

1. Must be 18 years of age or older.
2. May not be a Downtown Dolls member. (Downtown Dolls Run-Around-Sue level members are permitted and encouraged to compete).
3. Funds raised via registration fees and voting will go directly toward the Downtown Dolls, a 501c3 non-profit. Funds raised for the Downtown Dolls supports creating fun and engaging events that benefit fellow organizations in our community.
4. The theme for this Pinup Pageant is 1940s-1950's Vintage Glamour. (For example, think more Marilyn Monroe vs. 50's Housewife or Rockabilly/Greaser styles). Every effort should be made to be classic in style and taste.
5. Registration begins Wednesday June 26th, 2024 and ends Wednesday July 31st. There is a non-refundable $20 entry fee (plus Eventbrite fee). Once we receive your registration form, you will receive an email with a link to the EventBrite. At this time we will also ask for a photo representing your BEST Pinup styling. Photos must be in portrait and you must provide proof of rights to the photo if it was taken by a professional.
6. We will be awarding a "People's Choice" Award to the contestant who receives the most online votes. We encourage you to share your voting link as much as possible. It is $1 per vote on the platform. Voters can pay for as many votes as they wish. *Reminder that this is a fundraiser for the Downtown Dolls Non-Profit. The "People's Choice" winner will be announced the day of the Pageant alongside the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. It is possible that the "People's Choice" could also place in the Pageant. The prize for the "People's Choice" winner will be separate from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes.
   
7. Fair entry ($15 value) is provided for each registered contestant.
8. Halloween Costumes or similar, lingerie, and bikinis will *NOT be permitted.
   
9. The My Fair Lady Pinup Pageant is Family Friendly. There is to be NO nudity, flashing, pasties, crude language, or overtly sexual gestures on stage.
10. Contestants must be ready and lined up at the specified meeting area for preparation to approach the stage. Contestants who do not line-up at the specified time will not be allowed to compete. (*We will NOT hunt you down.)
11. Contestants will answer a brief question on stage pertaining to Pinup Culture. The questions will be opinion based.
12. All Contestants are asked to stay after the Pageant to take a group photo.

Judges:

Judges chosen will have experience in any of the following categories, so that they may appropriately judge contestants:

-Pinup Expertise (Whether a Pinup themselves or familiar with the aesthetic)

-Rockabilly Culture (Musician, Car Club, etc.)

-Photographer familiar with Pinup style

-A minimum of one Downtown Dolls member will be in a judging position, with guest judges filling all other available spaces.

Contestants will be judged on four main categories:

Hair & Make-up

Attire

Personality

Overall Pinup Presentation

a.) Hair & Makeup: Hair should visibly represent a Vintage or “Pinup” aesthetic. Higher scores will be achieved based on the effort put in and the intricacy of the style. Make-up looks may be fully vintage inspired, or vintage with a modern twist. Makeup that draws attention to the natural beauty within, such as was popular in the 40’s and 50’s would be defined brows, bold lips, rosy cheeks, and winged liner for example.

b.) Attire: Attire will be judged based on outfit choice and if the 40’s or 50’s Vintage Glamour aesthetic is visibly portrayed. Accessories and use of small, handheld props are encouraged to complement and bring flair to the outfit.

c.) Personality: Contestants will make memorable impressions on the judges by showing personality while on stage. Smiling, being playful, sassy, and twirling are all ways to show personality.

d.) Overall Pinup Presentation: This category represents the Contestant's overall put together Pinup look and how well they applied the 40's-50's Glamour theme throughout the other categories.
