Every community has a story to tell. We want to keep these stories of the common man alive, celebrate the little things that make our neighbourhoods special, and help connect people to the social networks in their communities. If we don't, who's going to do it for us?My Community runs free walking tours in some of the oldest neighbourhoods in Singapore including Tanglin Halt, Telok Blangah and Tiong Bahru. We also carry out cultural mapping exercises in Chinatown, Tekka and Kampong Glam where we befriend residents, conduct oral history interviews and map the intangible and tangible cultural assets within the community. These stories and experiences will eventually be presented in our guided tours and at My Community Festival.
We are looking for new volunteers to help us run these tours and festival programmes. These tours and experiences aren't just for the enjoyment of the general public, but they help us keep the stories and memories held in neighbourhoods alive.
If you are interested in being a part of our cultural mapping and community archives team or run some of our free guided tours and museum programmes, join us on Saturday, 11 January 2025 for an engagement session to learn more about My Community.

About My Community
Since its inception in 2010, My Community has made its mark in the arts, cultural and heritage sectors. Its work has spurred the growth and development of a common-man approach to history where everyday experiences of Singaporeans are chronicled and celebrated.
Today, My Community’s core mission remains the same. The non-profit organisation works to capture and preserve community stories, reconnect people to places and social networks, and deepen heritage appreciation and expression across the country. It also advocates for greater community involvement in cultural management and urban governance processes.
