About this Event
Interested in learning more about Social Security benefits for people with disabilities? Need assistance in obtaining those benefits? Have ideas on how the non-disabled can be better advocates for the disabled? Come to this informational presentation on the basics of Social Security’s main financial assistance programs for the disabled, how to obtain legal assistance in obtaining those benefits, and “speak out” your ideas on how society can be a better support system for the disabled.
Katrina Tomer is a senior legal assistant with Queens Legal Services (QLS). Her primary responsibilities include Social Security Disability (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) overpayments, Disability Advocacy Project (DAP) case work involving SSDI and SSI applications and appeals, and numerous other matters relating to SSDI and SSI. Ms. Tomer has been with QLS for approximately 5 years, and she has worked in this field for approximately 10 years. Ms. Tomer received her BS in Criminal Justice from Berkeley College and her Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies from Interboro Institute.
