About this Event
MWC Chicago and USPCN Present: Ahlan wa Sahlan!
Welcome. The word itself has so many meanings for us Palestinians as it is not simply an invitation to a meal or tea. It is a welcome to family and all the hustle and bustle of love, culture and the place that connects it all together: Palestine.
For this event, we are welcoming you to the stories of Palestine told by Palestinians. The stories could be old, passed down from generation to generation after they were evicted from their homes in 1948, or could be recent, about the generation that is now defining the fight against oppression, constant violence and apartheid.
We welcome you to listen to these stories, but as family would, hear and remember them, as well. These narratives are a gift that need to be remembered even after the media spotlight fades. Carry them with you as you search for how you can help and then act on them.
We are proud to partner with the US Palestinian Network for this event (all ticket proceeds will be donated to them). To learn more about their services (and donate more!) please visit their website: www.uspcn.org.

MWC Chicago is doing this event in person with very limited capacity (masks still required regardless of vaccination status).
The Muslim Writer’s Collective of Chicago is committed to co-creating brave spaces for Muslims to express the plurality of their narratives. By being in this place, you are committing to respectfully listen to each performer’s piece. You are also pledging to help this space be nurturing for those who are marginalized from traditional Muslim narratives; this include but is not limited to those who identify as LGBTQIA, Black, Inter-racial, have visible and invisible disabilities, and those who are questioning their faith. Thank you for joining us and help us welcome all Muslim narratives.
