Mutant Fusion Collective (MFC), the jazz/rock sonic conquistadors, have set sail from Dunedin, FL.Fronted by guitarist and bandleader Kirk Yates, MFC has earned a reputation for its genre-blending prowess. Their signature sound seamlessly melds original compositions with classic bebop jazz standards and 90s alt-rock anthems.
Known for their bold bond of jazz’s improvisational freedom and grunge rock’s raw energy, MFC delivers performances marked by intricate solos, tight rhythms, and a palpable passion.
Each member brings a unique voice, including Michael LaPick (drums), Cabe Crisler (bass), and Brian Doss (saxophone), whose interplay creates a compelling eclectic landscape.
Emphasizing the COLLECTIVE aspect, MFC has collaborated with notable Tampa Bay artists such as Songbird Shella, Austin Llewellyn, Joe Knoebel, Casie Fogle, Darryl McGowan Jr., and Dexter Wilborn.
Their debut single, "Iron Sam," is now available on all streaming platforms, offering a glimpse into the band’s inspirations, including a diverse range of icons such as Weather Report, Charlie Parker, Steely Dan, Mike Stern, Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, and Cannonball Adderley.
