About this Event

Muslimahs at City Hall & Transit4Women

Empower. Connect. Advocate.

Join us for Muslimahs at City Hall & Transit4Women, a transformative one-day event designed to inspire young women (ages 18-29) to take charge, lead change, and make their voices heard. Hosted at Toronto City Hall, this event is a unique opportunity to explore civic engagement, learn advocacy skills, and address pressing issues like transit safety and inclusivity.

Through engaging panels with city leaders, interactive workshops with grassroots organizations, and creative activities, you’ll gain the tools and confidence to shape your community for the better. Whether you’re passionate about women’s rights, safer public spaces, or building a stronger Toronto, this is your chance to meet like-minded peers, learn from inspiring mentors, and take actionable steps toward creating change.

Goals of the Muslimahs At City Hall:

  1. Participants will learn actionable methods to increase their civic engagement and contribute to municipal decision-making
  2. Participants will connect with and learn from both Muslim and non-Muslim organizations and leaders and staff at Toronto City Hall about their work, their journeys and how to influence change at City Hall
  3. Participants will foster connections with other like-minded youth who may become future fellow colleagues, project partners or community mobilizers.

Goals of Transit4Women:

  1. Participants will learn practical advocacy skills to address transit safety concerns and gain confidence in engaging with policymakers and transit authorities.
  2. Participants will connect with organizations and community advocates to learn about their work and how to actively contribute to creating safer public spaces.
  3. Participants will leave empowered with knowledge of their rights and the steps to take when experiencing or witnessing harassment on public transit.

Participant criteria:

  • This initiative is designed for young Muslim and Non-Muslim female-identifying youth ages 18 - 29
  • The ideal candidate is someone who is ambitious, demonstrates good leadership qualities, enjoys learning about governance and civic engagement, and is a team player.
  • Participants must reside, work or study in the City of Toronto.
