Description:
Musicality of the Body is a physical and ensemble-based workshop that explores the intimate relationship between body, voice, text, and music. At its core, this training awakens the body as a resonant instrument.
Through movement, breath, and vibration, we activate the body’s inner soundscape — allowing the bones, tissues, and inner spaces to become vehicles of resonance. This work fosters a visceral understanding of voice, opening up new dimensions for singing, speaking, and vocal improvisation.
The workshop weaves between individual integrity, partnered sensing, and ensemble connection — not as a fixed sequence, but as a dynamic interplay. We move fluidly between these modes of being, allowing presence, rhythm, and resonance to emerge both within and between bodies.
Each exercise encourages deep listening — to self, to others, and to the collective body of the ensemble. We develop physical presence, emotional authenticity, and responsiveness to impulse.
The work nurtures the performer’s capacity for rhythm, spatial awareness, vocal clarity, and expressive freedom. It supports artists across disciplines — actors, dancers, singers, and musicians — in cultivating a body that listens, a voice that responds, and a creative process that is deeply alive.

BIO:
Rafał Habel (Poland) is an actor, teacher, musician, and a core member of the music-driven physical theatre company, Song of the Goat Theatre, from 1996-2018, during its vibrant years. With over 25 years of experience, his work blends movement, voice, music, text, and rhythm, and he has performed in festivals worldwide.
Rafał plays various traditional instruments, such as the Lithuanian birbyna, African kora, and Georgian polyphonic singing, developing his musical skills intuitively. He is the only birbyna player in Poland and co-founded the folk group Lautari.
Since 2019, Rafał has expanded his work into film and collaborates with theatre companies like Ov/Off Group, Transatlantic Group (Athens), and Med a Prach / Honey and Dust (Slovakia). He has taught workshops across continents and continues to lead them in Europe and beyond.
