About this Event
Kuya is excited to welcome an enchanting musical performance by Her Mana in the intimate setting of Kuya, tucked in to our velvety green couches.
Her Mana is a musical project created by Kate Robberson and Emilie Basez, Texan born artists, songwriters, and two members of the well known group of female artists in the band, Ley Line.
Her Mana weaves together their voices through lyrics in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Blending acoustic instrumentation with their own crafted electronic sound scapes, the duo swirls textures of samba, soul and folk with poetry and vocal harmonies.
Musical components include classical guitar, ukulele, and a variety of world percussion instruments that accompany their vocal harmonies.
Both musicians draw on their heritage and cultural explorations as a guide and inspiration for their music - this serenade is one you won't want to miss!

More about Emilie and Kate
As a first generation American, Emilie’s family origins in Argentina have fueled a lifetime of self-discovery through culture, language, and folklore storytelling. Kate’s ancestry draws on a spectrum of musical expression, from spiritual leaders to classically trained musicians; she has experienced sound as a tool for transcendence and theoretical study.
The duo’s musical partnership began in 2012 on a six month backpacking trip through Brazil. Later in 2015, they began a collaboration with Lydia and Madeleine Froncek to create the musical group Ley Line. The band has graced notable stages such as the Austin City Limits Music Festival, SXSW, and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. They have released two albums and are set to release new music this year produced by Grammy Award Winning David Garza.
