Music Workshop with Tusmørkeتقام الورشة باللغة الانجليزية

We would like to work on two songs that have extensive parts for improvisations. The musicians we would like to include are 3-4 percussionists like in the traditional shaabi line-up, clarinet or ney and 2 or more violins. We also welcome someone to play the Behringer Model D for the workshop, a monophonic MiniMoog-style synthesizer that we bring. We would like the performance to be recorded with multi-track and filmed. The workshop will consist of playing the themes of the songs together and finding out what works. I enclose live recordings of the songs Kairo and Torden over Norden so that musicians have an idea of what they are like. Everyone should be on stage at the same time, arranged in a circle so that we can communicate. This will require monitoring on account of the drumkit. Depending on available musicians and instruments, there will have to be mics provided for percussion, ney and violins. The workshop will have no audience. Number of guest musicians: 7-9 (3-4 percussion/drums, 2-3 violins or other strings, 1 ney or clarinet, 1 organis/synth-player). We are open to other suggestions, as well.
The aim for the workshop is to hear what our songs sound like with traditional Egyptian instruments. Parts of the songs are inspired by Egyptian and Lebanese music we have heard on records and on the radio while driving around Cairo and Alexandria.
The workshop is supported by the Jesuit Cultural Center, but there is a symbolic contribution to ensure seriousness and commitment. 😊
Admission Procedures:
1- Submitted applications will be carefully reviewed.
2- Accepted Applications: Candidates whose applications have been accepted will be notified via the email they provided during the application process. (If you are accepted into the workshop and your email is incorrect, another candidate from the waiting list will be selected - Please ensure that your email is entered correctly).
3- After receiving your acceptance confirmation email, the participation fee must be paid within a maximum of 2 days from the date of receiving the acceptance email.
4- The symbolic contribution should be paid at the reception desk daily from 9 AM to 9 PM throughout the week, except for Sundays, which is the weekly day off or via Vodafone Cash for accessibility.
The form closes on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11 AM or until full capacity is reached.
