Music Travel Guide Talk Series feat. Adyam Tesfamariam

Music Travel Guide invites you to join us for our Talk Series Event at Unkompress, on September 24, from 6.30 till 9.30 pm.

For the occasion, we’re excited to welcome Adyam Tesfamariam.

Adyam (she/her) is a passionate writer, DJ, community organiser, student of social sciences, and a freelance instructor who specializes in anti-racism and diversity. Originally from Eritrea, she now resides in Berlin.

Having organised workshops at several community spaces – AfroPolitan Berlin, Each One Teach One – and appeared at festivals such as Re:publica and Fluctoplasma and as part of the series Elbphilharmonie Explains, her work organizes around liberating potentials through Afrofuturism, writing, somatics and club culture.

We will have a conversational approach to the impact of Afrofuturism in the world of popular music.

We will center our attention on providing you with an overview of Afrofuturism - its definition, historical background, and underlying concept. Additionally, we will delve into the realm of influential musicians and recordings within this constantly evolving genre.

Adyam will guide you through a journey that encompasses the cultural aesthetics and historical significance associated with the fusion of African diaspora culture and music.

The best part is that you'll connect with other great creators and music enthusiasts and engage in stimulating conversations.

We all meet to share, learn from the insights the others tell and go home with new discoveries, inspiring artists to listen to and interesting food for thought.

The host of the event is Maikol Piardi, a Music Content Writer, Event-Host, Communication Strategist based in Berlin and founder of Music Travel Guide.
