Healing Strings music therapy is a music ministry of Shawnee UMC where we bring you together with music leaders and others who have experienced trauma to learn to play, sing, and put your experiences into music. This program is open to ALL ages.
Trauma doesn't have an age limit.
This is not music lessons. While you will learn to play guitar from week to week, this is focused as a person growth and group therapy program.
Have a guitar? Bring it.
Need a guitar? Let us know.
After 10 meetings, you will be able to keep the guitar that has helped you over this time. We want this to be the beginning to a healthy outlet for your life.
After each session, we will invite you, and anyone else from the public such as your friends and family to join us in the church Solid Rock Cafe for relaxation and a jam session. This is your time to relax, listen to music, grab your guitar to play along, or even get up on stage and play.
