In collaboration with the Forest City Film Festival, this edition of Music Talks takes place October 23 from 7-9 PM at RBC Place London and is part of the Ontario Screen Creators Conference.
Music Talks: Film, TV & Video Games 101 is designed for musicians, composers, and producers interested in breaking into the world of sync licensing and scoring for screen-based media. Attendees will gain insights into how music shapes stories, sets moods, and enhances the emotional impact of film, television, and video games. Industry experts will share practical advice on getting your music placed, navigating contracts, and building a sustainable career in this exciting field.

Michael has placed thousands of songs in tv shows, feature films and documentaries, seen and heard around the world. he has been working in the music/film/tv industries for 20+ years. Michael has been asked to moderate and speak on panels around the world, including: Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Poland, Miami, New York, Cannes, Halifax, Toronto. he is the past president and co-founder of the Guild of Music Supervisors, Canada, a 4-time Canadian Sync Awards recipient for his work on "The Handmaid’s Tale" and "North of North”, and a GMS Award winner for his work on the indie film, “The Cuban”.
Cody Partridge – Music Supervisor, Pear Tree Music Supervision
Cody Partridge is a multi-award-winning Music Supervisor and President of Pear Tree Music Supervision. With over a decade of experience in the industry, his 200+ credits help demonstrate his versatility in navigating music clearances and placements over all forms of media. Cody prides himself on being the ‘Indiana Jones of Music Clearances’, constantly finding hidden gems, and never allowing rights holders to go undiscovered. His main objective is to assist a production in creating the project that they envision, and he is happy to facilitate the needs in both a creative and/or administrative capacity as each specific project requires. He is adept at navigating Union implications when placing any affiliated recordings, assuring clients a sound and complete experience in all aspects of authentic music use, regardless if the desire is recognizable or yet to be discovered. Cody is on the Board of Directors and the Vice Prsident of the Canadian Guild of Music Supervisors, helping to support and evolve the community of music supervision.
Moderator - Moira Demorest - Music Officer, Kingston
Moira has spent most of her life at the piano. She has constantly pursued a passion for empowering marginalized and underserved voices, as she balanced her careers as a musician and concert promoter. Co-founder of the local concert production company, KPP Concerts, Moira has produced live concerts for 20+ years, working with artists such as Arkells, City and Colour, Pup, and Lights. Most recently, Moira founded the initiative Spring Reverb, a four-day exhibition to promote, develop and showcase the Kingston music scene. Currently working as Kingston’s Music Officer (Tourism Kingston in partnership with the City of Kingston), Moira’s work continues to focus on support and development of Kingston’s rich musical ecosystem.
