During the masterclass Chris will be mixing a track live and giving an in-depth overview of what steps he takes to get a song ready for mastering. He’ll be showing track-by-track the differences between the production version and the mix and explaining his creative process along the way.
After the mixing portion of the masterclass, Chris will be giving feedback on tracks submitted by audience members, making constructive suggestions for improvement. (Please email a SoundCloud link to [email protected] to be considered for feedback.)
About Chris Sclafani
Chris Sclafani is a NYC-based record producer, vocal producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, mixer, and Grammy-winning engineer.
Along with his work on Ed Sheeran's "Divide", which was awarded the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album, he had received 2 other nominations in the Album of the Year category for Ed Sheeran's "X" and Justin Bieber's "Purpose" along with a Grammy Certificate for The Weeknd's winning album "Starboy".
Through the years there have been another 9 Grammy-nominated projects, 11 Billboard Number 1's, and 8 Official Charts UK awards for his engineering, vocal production, and songwriting work.
Chris has produced vocals for Ariana Grande, Julia Michaels, Joe Jonas, Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, Billy Porter, and Gwen Stefani to name a few. During his time as Benny Blanco's vocal producer and engineer he also worked on projects for Halsey, Rita Ora, Katy Perry, Cashmere Cat, Maroon 5, One Republic, Jessie Ware, Justin Bieber, Charlie XCX, Rixton, Sean Paul, Rihanna, the Roots, and many other talented artists.
With a background in rock and a degree in classical guitar performance, Chris brings a unique perspective to his work. His focus on capturing the most musical performances of a singer or instrumentalist has made him a highly respected and sought-after producer.
Chris currently operates out of a private studio in Midtown Manhattan where he continues to explore his brand of music production, finding sounds that inspire his love of music that he can pass along to the artists he works with.
