Join the Paducah Singers as we open our 8th season with “Music for the Cathedral.” This concert will center around music that was written to be sung in glorious architectural structures that allow for the beauty of sound to carry to every corner of the building. We are fortunate to have such a beautiful structure in Paducah - at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Our repertoire spans several centuries, beginning with the music of three Renaissance masters, Hans Leo Hassler, Thomas Tallis and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina.
The second part of our concert will feature selections from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries that beautifully suit the exquisite acoustics of the space, including works by Irish composer Charles Villiers Stanford, Norwegian Edvard Grieg, and American Randall Thompson.
Every single piece, whether written in the sixteenth century or the twenty-first century, will create an auditory delight where the beauty of sound can wash over you. The afternoon is guaranteed to provide you with instances of exquisite peace – moments that we singers believe can only be achieved by being surrounded by gorgeous music. We hope you will plan to join us.
The concert is FREE and open to the public.
