Here are the performers for January 3rd!
Happy New Year!
Baird & Silva, despite the name, is usually a trio, if not a quartet or quintet, with virtuoso bassist JRod venturing into vocal harmony at times, sometimes violinist, vocalist, and multi instrumentalist Bethany Erickson and others also sometimes joining.
Not new to San Diego music, but new as a duo together, are Karen Childress-Evans and Tina Dee will bring viola, guitar, and lots of harmony, I suspect.
Randall Mark will bring his original tunes to Music Night along with his current partner, Shelby Sanborn.
Remember the $2 per person for the CCA jar that helps make the venue possible! 🙂
Music Night is designed so you can come early, late, stay for the evening, and let you leave when you need to - and it’s very OK to come and go, but do indeed come!
Donate once, and enjoy yourself.
If you want to have the kids be exposed to live music, but they have a bedtime schedule - leave early. We’re always striving for a family friendly experience.
If 6:30pm is just not a part of your music listening ‘begin time’, please do come later for the last hour or earlier.
You will still get to hear all of the different performers.
Musicians play 3 songs and then rotate throughout the evening giving you a chance to hear each group or individual, if you can give about an hour.
Please come and check out each Music Night as the guests are always changing. (The host does not change, but the guests do.)
The point is to let our audience hear many different and outstanding local performers, old and new, get the CCA enough of a donation for the evening to defray the cost of a rental so we can continue, and to get the musicians something more in that tip jar so they’ll want to return, as many do.

Crest Community Center, 113 N Park Dr, El Cajon CA 92021
Saturday 1/3/2026 from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm
- Karen Childress-Evens and Tina Dee, Karen and Tina have joined forces as a Duo with
Karen on viola and Tina on guitar. Their music
weaves rich harmonies with both voice and
instrument, blending classical depth with folk-
inspired warmth to create an intimate, soul-stirring
sound that resonates deeply with their audience.
- Randy Mark began playing and writing songs only 10 years ago. Currently he can be heard performing each month at The Spacebar in La Mesa
A multi award winning songwriter (Broadjam & Dallas International songwriting contests) he enjoys the surprise of song ideas pop into his head. Whether hearing melodies in dreams or culling actual dialogue from arguments with his ex-wife, Randy's music resonates with listeners on all levels.
His work has been featured on internet radio, is under consideration by production companies, and most recently his titles "Wonder Boy" & "Frostbite Heart" (plus numerous others) inspired two lengthy runs of a musical theatrical production ("Flaunt Your Flaws!") which played in theatres throughout the Reno, Carson City, & Sparks areas of Nevada.
And performing with Randy is Shelby Sanborn, a vocalist and artist dedicated to creating authentic connections through her music. As a performer, Shelby aims to unite listeners, fostering a sense of community and shared experience. Shelby has performed at various venues in California including The Hilton Bayfront Hotel, The Balboa Bay Club,The Welk Resorts, La Costa Resorts, The Brooks Theatre, Harrah’s, The Star Theatre in Oceanside, Ranch Santa Fe Golf Club and Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay. Sweet, but filled with confidence in front of an audience, Shelby is a sought after vocalist and songwriter who loves to entertain with her larger than life voice.
And your musical hosts.
-Baird & Silva are a local originals and "twisted covers" acoustic electric tour de force and your hosts for the evening along with special guests JRod and Bethany Erickson!
They are always rotating and adding to their song choices so audiences can hear not only original music favorites from Tom’s extensive catalog, but also those twisted covers, while maybe experiencing something new and unexpected.
What is a “twisted cover’” you might ask? Well, something that makes other people's music unique to Baird & Silva. They’ll alter a song to add a little something they thought should be there, or that might completely affect the flavor or character of that song. We sometimes even twist Tom’s originals.
We are always honored to have these stellar artists perform at our gathering.
Come see!
If you've never been to a Music Night, you need to experience this.
As always, the event doubles as that Crest Community Association fundraiser, with a $2 per person suggested donation at the door. (Kids are always free!)
We have 2 additional donation pots; 1 for the musicians, and 1 for the coffee and tea we provide via Denise, so bring a little extra. We all work very hard to put Music Night's on for you, so let them all know. That little largess can go a long way!
If your name is Bezos, Musk, or Zuckerberg, put in a little more - You can afford it. 🙂
I think we can pot-luck again if you want, but you are still encouraged to B.Y.O.S.W. - bring your own sensible whatever, for yourself.
We have tables! We have many chairs!
I have seen dinner picnics!
Get Mexican food from the La Cresta Mexican Restaurant a block away and dine here. Your fellow Music Nighters will be jealous.
We are always non-profit, with the donation pot going to the CCA, the ‘snack’ jar goes for refreshment supplies, and the tip jar for the musicians, so the more that musicians are "appreciated", the more they will hopefully return for another round someday…
So, come on!
Make it a moment...make it an evening. The CCA wins...you win!
