They will learn about music, drama, and set design - all while creating a fully-staged musical with live, professional musicians. Music will be led by A&M United Methodist's Director of Music, Michael Vaughn, and accompanied by David Henry. The full performance of the musical will be at 11:00 am Sunday Worship on August 4th in the Sanctuary.Anchored in Faith!
The Story of Noah
The story in Genesis of the great flood and how humanity along with all the animals of the world were saved has been a favorite of many for as long as the Bible has been read. Ultimately it’s the story of how one man could literally change the direction of history. It doesn't take long in Genesis to get from the Garden of Eden (chapters 1-3) to a time where “the Lord was sorry he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart” (chapter 6:6). But now entering the story is Noah, a “righteous man, blameless in his generation...walking with God.” I think part of the reason the story resonates with believers of all ages is that we all want to be like Noah-walking with God and living a righteous and holy life. There are two types of characters in our musical: those that are “named” (Noah, his family, God, and the angel Gabriel) and lines which are designated by number (READERS 1-40). Depending on how many speakers you have, these lines could be divided however you like. It goes without saying that a highlight of Anchored in Faith! will be the song “Aardvarks to Zebras.” Every musical about Noah and the flood needs an animal parade!
The takeaway for all our children was the last line delivered prior to the singing of the Reprise: God wants us to answer His call in our lives, just like Noah did. When we do, we’ll all be...ANCHORED IN FAITH!
Have fun and come be a part of Noah’s crew!
