Uplifting Queer Voices is a community program made possible by the Live Music Society’s Music In Action Grant, dedicated to empowering and amplifying voices of local LGBTQIA+ musicians and industry professionals with an emphasis on QTBIPOC led affinity spaces.The program’s mission is to provide robust support to participants through professional development initiatives, workshops, and performance opportunities. Our goals include increasing accessibility, expanding artist representation, and diversifying our audiences, while creating a beloved third place (a community meeting space where we exchange ideas, have a good time, and build relationships).

Nismah has been writing music for film and tv for over 7 years, and has landed over 200 placements in some of the most watched TV shows.

Meet your Instructor ~
Nismah Osman is an award-winning songwriter, music producer, and entrepreneur. Hailing from (the nice part of) New Jersey, Nismah moved to Massachusetts in 2013 to pursue her degree at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she studied songwriting, music production, and voice. After graduating summa cum laude in 2017 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music, she began her career by diving head first into the world of sync licensing and custom music composition. Nismah has written songs that have appeared in hundreds of tv shows, movies, and ads (Love is Blind, Dancing with the Stars, Temptation Island, etc.), and has collaborated on countless projects with other artists and music producers, internationally. In 2018, Nismah had the incredible privilege of attending a by-audition-only songwriting bootcamp in New York City led by prolific pop songwriter and former American Idol host, Kara DioGuardi (Kelly Clarkson, P!nk, Jason Derulo), where she received compliments directly from Kara on her ability to write strong songs and not back down in the face of a challenge. Now, after years of writing with the vision of others' in mind, Nismah is turning her attention toward writing music for her debut album project, set to release sometime in 2026. She is also dedicated to helping other musicians learn new skills and make strides in their own music careers by providing group and one-on-one support in her areas of expertise.
