Join us for a special, one day celebration of the musical history of the Riverside neighborhood! This free concert features three different musical acts -
Sonofarious (2PM-3PM): This eclectic chamber group combines two flutes, guitar, harp, guitalele (a guitar/ukulele hybrid), and other instruments to create original music that is mostly classical, traditional and folksy with contemporary surprises.
Bowlus / Ricci "Deep Cuts and Hidden Gems" (3:15PM-4:15PM): Featuring two leading jazz performers (Joshua Bowlus on piano and John Ricci on tenor sax) this performance highlights lesser-known favorites in the jazz repertoire. Expect top-notch musicianship and adventurous improvisation from this duo!
Louis Goldstein "Past is Present" (4:30PM-6:00PM): Renowned pianist Louis Goldstein combines classic works by composers including Bach and Debussy with new works by Linda Catlin Smith and Barak Perelman. This last piece is a world premier performance, dedicated to Goldstein by the composer.
Along with the performances, Friday Musicale presents newly uncovered archival materials documenting the early years of the Musicale as well as the history of the founding families. Set aside time to spend in the lobby, where you'll journey back in time while enjoying a glass of cold brew, kombucha, or Fishweir Brewing adult beverage!
