About this Event
Music as the Message (MaM) is going on the road! We are happy to announce that we are bringing the heart and head-space lifting message of music to St. Louis, MO with the premiere of Music as the Message: Love’s Language, which will be produced by St. Louis native Adrienne Danrich, Opera on Tap, and St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, in association with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and Washington University on Sunday, November 24, 2024, 3:00 pm CT at the beautiful St. Timothy’s of Creve Coeur.
Love’s Language will celebrate Love and all the good and joyful things it inspires — peace, empathy, kindness, lending a helping hand, and, of course, romance. Attendees will be treated to a feast for the ears, hearts, and minds with a wide variety of music including Contemporary Gospel, Opera, Operetta, R&B, Art Songs, and Musical Theater.
Adrienne will be joined by a stellar lineup of intergenerational, international and local talent. Featuring past and present Opera Theatre of St. Louis artists Angel Riley Love, Chaz Williams-Ali and Robert Mellon; alongside Washington University Ph.D. student Christina Smiley; Fellow Central Visual and Performing Arts alums Kagera Buckner and Kwamina Walker-Williams; young darlings, Jordan Henley & Izabel Jones; healing mantra artist Anu French; the MaM Memorial Choir led by Harry Moppins & Cheryl Walker; and the MaM Band, including New York based pianist Gary Mitchell, Jr., St. Louis's own John Wallach, Tim Moore, Billy Engel, and Brit Lockart.
This is a FREE public event, goodwill donations accepted. Love’s Language is presented in hybrid format, live at St. Tim’s and simutaneously via Zoom. No matter where you are in the world, you are invited to tune in! For those who can attend in-person, please join us after the program for a reception in celebration. We will serve light snacks and beverages.
DUE TO LIMITED SPACE IN THE VENUE, THERE IS A LIMIT OF FOUR (4) IN-PERSON REGISTRATIONS PER HOUSEHOLD.
Love's Language is dedicated to the memory of Rose-Marie Bell, an inspiration, beacon of love, and angel supporter of Music as the Message, who made St. Tim’s her home church for years before her passing.
-------
Music as the Message (MaM) was created in 2020 by Emmy Award-winning soprano Adrienne Danrich in response to the need for communal sharing and healing during the height of the pandemic, and in the wake of George Floyd's M**der. MaM’s mission is to create shared musical experiences, celebrating the unifying power of music to inspire healing, joy, laughter, love and most importantly, community. Adrienne serves as host, inviting various guest artists from a wide range of backgrounds, genres, and experiences to offer performances of uplifting songs, dance, and spoken word. Music as the Message provides a safe space for Attendees to quietly enjoy or, when invited, to participate and lift their voices in tandem with the performers.
