Calling all storytellers, musicians, and curious creatives!
Join Annick Odom for a trial run of her upcoming workshop for the 2025 Kentucky Storytelling Association Conference: โ€œMusic as Story Companion: Using Music in Storytelling.โ€ This is a low-key, participatory session where we'll explore how melody, rhythm, and sound can bring stories to life. If you are a musician and DON'T want to tell a story, or a storyteller who DOESN'T want to make music, but you're interested in collaborating - this could still be something for you. :)
๐Ÿ’ฌ Whether you're a storyteller who's never touched an instrument, or a musician curious about narrative, this workshop is for you. No formal music training is needed, just bring a story, an instrument OR your voice, and a willingness to play.
๐ŸŽป Weโ€™ll experiment with mood, character, pacing, and transitions, using music as a tool to support and shape storytelling. Expect hands-on activities, group discussion, creative prompts, and time to test out ideas in a supportive setting.
๐Ÿ›  This is a workshop-in-progress! Your feedback and participation will help Annick fine-tune the session before she presents it at the Kentucky Storytelling Conference in November.
Come try out something new! Maybe we'll create something special!
Thanks to Jo Ann Dadisman of the WV Storytelling Guild for helping to organize the space.
