Join us for an evening of mumming and music at Sigginstown Castle! Mumming is an ancient performance style that started as a folk play, and evolved into a sword-dance here in Wexford. We will demonstrate the folk play, with ancient stock characters like the Doctor, Beelzebub, St. Patrick, Turkey Knight and more. We are always happy to have new people participate in this short folk play where you can read your lines, and overact, script in hand! ( If you would like to be a player, please email us in advance at [email protected])We hope to have some additional mumming groups demonstrate or perform, and these performances will be followed by a music session - listen or join in as you will, all musicians welcome!
Event will be either in our new Coach house building Please enter by Norman Way gate on main road and park in designated field. Don’t turn down the cul-de-sac road as that gate will be closed. BYOB or some light refreshments available.
Mumming Play will be performed about 8:30 pm - it is short so don’t be late! Music to follow. All are welcome to play, clap, sing, dance etc!
