MUSIC AND MEMORY:
THE HEALTHY BRAIN CONNECTION
Join the Alzheimer's Association for a free event on June 10 at 9 AM at the new Sound Garden at Lucy Park to learn how healthy lifestyle habits can help reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer's or another dementia.
Hear from Alicia Deges, Executive Director of the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, to explore how music creates meaningful connections to memories. The Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District will provide free blood pressure checks and information about their community garden at the All Hands Cultural Community Center. Get tips for eating healthy at restaurants in Wichita Falls, part of the Eat Well Wichita County program.
This program offers science-based recommendations about taking care of our brains and bodies. While there are currently no proven methods to prevent cognitive decline or dementia, research has shown that we can take action to reduce our risk of developing it and help maintain or potentially improve overall health.
This programs covers these aspects of healthy living:
- Getting quality sleep
- Being smoke-free
- Taking care of your mental health
- Getting moving
- Eating healthy
- Challenging yourself
- Staying connected
We’ll share stories and offer tips on how to make small changes in each of these areas to build healthier habits. Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body is designed for individuals of any age who are looking for information on ways to live well.
