Music Alive is proud to announce its 50th anniversary celebration concert. This milestone event will take place on Tuesday 26 November 2024 at The Piano featuring a diverse range of performances by long-standing members of the club.
Founded in 1974 by Margaret Purdie as the Christchurch Clef Music Club Music Alive provides regular performance opportunities for singers and instrumentalists in all musical genres in a supportive environment.
Now the Club’s Patron Margaret hopes the club will continue to do what it was set up to do - primarily for vocal and instrumental performers to benefit from the platform it provides along with the friendship and fellowship of its members.
This celebratory concert will feature performances by Club members who have helped to shape the Club’s legacy over the years as well as cake cutting a bit of history and other celebrations. The first half pays tribute to the Club’s origins as a primarily vocal performance club. Former and long-standing current members will perform some favourites from previous years. The second half looks toward the future reflecting the changing times. It will feature a sample of what is likely to be on offer at Music Alive’s monthly concerts presented by current members or their students.
Join with Music Alive to pay tribute to the Club’s rich history and look ahead to the future of music-making in Christchurch. All our concerts are open to the public and new members are always welcome.
