About this Event
Deep Time Moving is a long-term movement-led art work unfolding in response to the unique geology of the Lizard peninsula in Cornwall, led by dancer and choreographer Kyra Norman, working with an interdisciplinary team of experienced collaborators: specialists in performance, sound, design, movement and geology.
For this special event in partnership with RCM, Kyra will lead an creative exploration of the newly reopened Mineral Gallery, including a series of practical listening, writing and gentle movement tasks, sharing some Deep Time Moving practices and materials. A unique opportunity to expand your senses of how we can experience and imagine deep time and our relationship to the rocks beneath our feet.
Kyra Norman is a dancer & choreographer based in Cornwall, UK. Her work explores movement, connection & place, through live performance, screen media, writing & participatory events.
Current work includes DISTANT DANCES: adventures in movement & dance, for all bodies that like to move; DEEP TIME MOVING: a long-term choreographic enquiry unfolding in response to the unique geological moves of the Lizard peninsula, where she lives; & GOING, GOING: a live music and dance collaboration with composer Barnaby Taylor & a brilliant gang of improvising dancers & musicians aged between 20 & 70+
Kyra is passionate about moving as a way to practice self-care and solidarity when everything is changing around us; and about dancing - and watching dancing - as a way of reflecting on what it means to be human, in this complex present moment.
