Join us for our March installment as we welcome UK legend ENiGMA Dubz back to our stage to play between the brackets, as well as Erie Sounds bossman Hunter Reed (as part of the b3b TRIAD)!
Who is ENiGMA Dubz?
Polymath and global DJ James Vine, better known as ENiGMA Dubz, is fast becoming one of the most influential producers in bass music - flexing from punishing drops to cinematic electronic soundscapes.
His series of mixtapes have made significant impact with Mixtape 1: #Heaters, featuring seven collaborations with some of the hottest acts in the global dubstep scene - including PAV4N, Bommer, Snowy and MYTHM - followed by 2024’s Mixtape 2: #Vibes showcasing the soulful future garage, breaks and melodic bass side of the ENiGMA Dubz sound - including collaborations with leading electronic vocalists Lauren L'aimant and Leo Wood.
Other recent releases on staple imprint Deep, Dark, and Dangerous and being entrusted with remix duty by heavyweights Ternion Sound further demonstrate consistency of the project, as well as the respect given to it from the surrounding soundscape. Aside from his own productions, ENiGMA Dubz runs and curates the label Morii Records alongside his manager Tom Bradshaw-Smith, putting out not just his own music through it but providing a platform for artists to release self-realized music true to their own projects.
Appearances at a variety of festivals like Lost Lands, Infrasound Equinox, Rampage, and Sound Haven had ENiGMA Dubz cutting a swath of destruction across the soundscape of dubstep and dance music as a whole. This is the 3rd time he has taken part in something organized by Null (the first two being Murkwood x Madhouse with Allegedly Defeated in April of 2022 and kicking off our webseries Into The System in September of 2023), and to say we are excited to host him as part of his Machine Learning Tour is a gross understatement.
Who is Hunter Reed?
Hailing from Cleveland, OH Hunter Reed focuses on refining the darker edge of the Midwest. Having had notable releases on Encrypted Audio, Widdfam and Rewind140 Hunter has honed in his Signature sound -- atmospheric and weighty with a driving force behind each track. Beyond his solo pursuits Hunter runs his own imprint -- Erie Sounds, a quickly rising label that has been making waves. Support from the likes of The Widdler, Ternion Sound, Commodo, Epoch, and more clearly demonstrate that Erie Sounds, its associated mix series, and the movement that Hunter champions showcase not just a collection of music from fly-over states but instead a diverse collection of DJs keenly aware of the rich musical history of the region and overall sound.
Hunter Reed has a meticulous selection behind the decks that places him equally with some of the best in the sound. His mixing is careful and methodical with an acute observation of the crowd, making him a favorite amongst partygoers. It's easy to cast the reinvigoration of the deeper side of dubstep into an amalgamation of production cheap-tricks as just another iteration, but Hunter Reed's investment in moving things forward is sincere and palpable.
Hunter has been a friend Null and Murkwood since the beginning -- as the first headliner of the party back in December of 2021 Hunter has made numerous appearances on our stage across every year we have thrown this party thus far, his most recent appearance being our 3 year anniversary to close out the stage. We're incredibly excited to welcome him back to the stage to play to our crowd and showcase his work!
