Murder Tonight a play by Halifax playwright Nick Jupp was part of TAG’s 2023-24 season. Runs January 23 to February 8 at the Theatre Art Guild’s Pond Playhouse 6 Parkhill Rd just east of the intersection of Williams Lake and Purcell’s Cove Rd.
We are very proud to present a remount of this original play whose run was shortened due to circumstances beyond our control.
The story features three sisters Olivia Mia and Sophia as they struggle with the needs of aging parents at a time in their own lives when education careers and relationships are pulling each of them in different directions. Tensions rise between them often provoked by upwardly mobile Sophia. Mia tries to keep things even and stable while clever Olivia seems to be going in a completely different direction.
Time passes and the sisters gather to celebrate Sophia's husband's birthday. Sophia enjoys a wealthy lifestyle now that her husband Noah is a successful lawyer. Mia is married to Liam and they own a successful hair salon. But there is something not quite right in their lives. Olivia after rising from the lowest ranks has become a Police Detective Inspector. She also may have finally found the love of her life.
When secrets are exposed sometimes reactions go too far and then a chain reaction starts … that hopefully can be controlled.
Murder Tonight contains an adult theme adult language sexual inferences violence and brief loud noises.
