RAAPA’s Spring Murder Mystery and Choral production takes place on Friday, June 7th, and Saturday, June 8th at Le Paresseux (a.k.a. The Snowshoe Club) at 227 Waldo Street in Rumford. The production, “Murder at the Pie Auction,” written by Michael Druce, is about the inner workings of an annual pie baking competition and auction. The hilarious play is filled with back-stabbing, outrageous contestants, who are competing for the top prize that eventually leads to, you guessed it, murder! The zany characters and situations will have audiences laughing and guessing, who done it? Think “The Great British Bake Off” meets “Columbo”!
Audience members will get a chance to participate in a real “LIVE” pie auction where you can bid on the contest’s winning pies. It will be a CASH ONLY auction, so bring your greenbacks! All proceeds go to the RAAPA organization. In addition to the pie auction itself, everyone will be invited to enjoy FREE coffee, cookies and cake during intermission. This very entertaining murder mystery play will be directed by RAAPA veteran Connie Venskus.
As in past shows, there will be a musical interlude featuring the RAAPA Chorus under the direction of Shirli Allen Heald with accompanist Gail Dorr. They will perform some musical favorites such as “Accentuate the Positive,” “Dream a Little Dream of Me, “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” and a Beatle’s classic: “Here Comes The Sun.”
Tickets for “Murder at the Pie Auction” are $15.00 each and are available in advance by contacting Anita @ (207) 369-0205 or at the All That Jazz hair salon located at 80 Congress Street in Rumford. Tickets will also be available at the door the day of performance. There will be a cash bar available one hour before start of the production and during intermission. Doors open at 6:00 pm. The performance will start promptly at 7:00 pm.
